Woodford School's Year 6 classes complete the Wild Tribe First Aid Course
All year 6 pupils at Woodford school have this month completed the wild tribe first aid course. This is a statutory requirement of the RSE curriculum.
The children were challenged in the outdoor environment. The children learnt how to use bandages and slings alongside learning how to conduct a primary survey. They learnt the key components of the A, B, Cs of first aid in a fun and interactive way. They were tasked with applying the skills they had learnt in a variety of scenarios. The children were very enthusiastic about the course and reported:
‘Fun, exciting, lots of adrenaline.
I liked today because we learnt about real life situations and what to do but in a fun way.
I really liked the lesson. It helped me learn a lot and the instructor did it in a really fun way!
It was very fun and enjoyable. Although it was learning about life lessons, Mrs Blackbird made it fun.
I think it went well as a lot of people enjoyed it, and we laughed, and it was very useful.
It was very helpful and fun. It taught me what to do when someone is in danger.
Great teacher, fun time, adrenaline rush.
The scenarios were a lot of fun!
This course has proved to be very popular this year with many schools booking their first aid sessions through wild tribe. If you would like to book a course for next year, email jponting@westst.org.uk
