Darite School Re-Wilded Their Grounds

Darite immersed themselves in a challenge set by Arena to re-wild their school. The project involved children, teachers and the community increasing the biodiversity of life within their school grounds.

To inspire them about the possibilities of this challenge, the school took a trip to Cabilla, a unique rainforest on the edge of Bodmin Moor.

‘Nestled amidst the rolling hills and verdant landscapes of Cornwall is Cabilla. Our recent visit to this rewilded haven left an indelible mark, a testament to its perfect blend of tranquillity, eco-consciousness, and warm hospitality.

One of the standout features of Cabilla is its commitment to rewilding – a conservation practice aimed at restoring ecosystems to their natural state. As an advocate for sustainable living, we were deeply impressed by the efforts undertaken by Cabilla to promote biodiversity and protect the local flora and fauna.

A guided tour of Cabilla Cornwall's ancient woodland and Atlantic temperate rainforest environment took the school across the 300 acre of land. The rainforest adventure gave the children a truly magical and real life experience of walking through temperate rainforest, and all the right information needed to continue the re-wilding Challenge!’
